Reinventing America's Image Abroad

Was there any point to the President's trips outside the country? It's hard to point to any positive outcome from the G-20 conference and other Obama trips except that they were the modern-day equivalent of courtly visits. Obama was supposed to get NATO countries to support his military efforts in Afghanistan. Instead, all hte got was a promise of 3 to 5 thousand advisor/trainers who would stay safely out of harm's way. Maybe the U.S. should stay out of harm's when other countries are attacked and subverted.

Obama was supposed to reinvent "America's image abroad" as he often said during his campaign but all he's gotten so far is criticism from Sarkozy, Chavez, and Ahmadinajad and elsewhere.
