COMMENTARY | Presidential candidate Rick Santorum should direct his efforts at uniting citizens around being Americans, not dividing them according to his own peculiar notions of the English language.
Santorum's recent statements regarding statehood for Puerto Rico, reported in the National Journal, further alienate GOP Latinos, many of whom otherwise share values of family, work, religion, and country.
On a campaign trip to Puerto Rico, the former Pennsylvania senator told reporters he'd support statehood for Puerto Rico if the U.S. territory adopted English as the official language.
