International Response on Libya Varies; French Take High Moral Ground - Yahoo! News: "German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle:
'There is no further cooperation with Gadhafi possible. Sanctions must be broadened; more have to be decided, so that Gadhafi gets no fresh money to pay mercenaries that he uses against his own people.'
That's solid Teutonic thinking, except for the fact that Gadhafi doesn't need 'fresh money to pay mercenaries.' He's reported to have plenty of cash in his own coffers. One source says Gadhafi controls $32 billion in liquid assets, and was not dumb enough to trust Bernard Madoff. Not all of Gadhafi's assets are frozen , and he'd recently made weapons and fighter jet deals with the Russians."
