NewsDemocrats and media pundits like CNN's Anderson Cooper abandoned inhibitions in using pejoratives like "tea baggers" (with its lurid sexual meaning) rather than "tea party activist" to describe critics. Use of the term in politics was meant to deprecate and discredit Tea Party participants. The Democrat agenda was to convince America that tea party activists were either depraved or racist.
