McCain's July 24th Campaign Stop in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania

McCain's message connected with the voters of Northeast PA--described by Barack Obama as "bitter and clinging to guns and religion." John McCain's First Post-Primary Campaign Stop in Pennsylvania
It was pouring rain in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on the morning of July 24 for the John McCain Town Hall Meeting. The location was perfect for McCain's first Pennsylvania post-primary campaign visit.

Are Pelosi and Obama Building a New Welfare State?

I hope not but here's a little morality play that seems relevant to the current stat quo. It was sent to me by a friend--I'm not the originator of the piece. Take it FWIW.

There was a chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab, the Prof noticed one young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist regime.

In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked:

"Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said that it was no joke.

"You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming.

When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side.

The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat that free corn again.

You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught.

Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity."

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening in America . The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tax cuts, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms, just a little at a time.

One should always remember two truths:

1) There is no such thing as a free lunch,

2) and you can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

If you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America , you might want to send this on to your friends.

John Kerry Wraps His Arms Around Obama Campaign

John Kerry's about to go on another windsurfing holiday. Though Obama said from Jordan that the surge had reduced the violence in Iraq, John Kerry immediately pops up on Fox News to amend Barry's acknowledgement.

"The downturn in violence occurred before the surge," said the Heinz Catsup magnate.

This is a departure from Kerry's pre-surge statements that the violence was increasing in Iraq in the period prior to the surge. People who heard Kerry's shift on a variety of topics will appreciate the photo above, taken after Kerry's deprecating remarks about troops being stupid and uneducated and that's why they were in Iraq in the first place. Now he's insulting the troops again and diminishing their accomplishments.

According to Kerry, the violence sort of petered out magically. The troops had little to do with it, according to him.

Obama Cycles the Middle East

I’m sitting here doing some work on my PC and half-listening to the TV when Barry’s news conference comes on from Jordan. Obama continues to to cop into the McCain-Bush position but the worm turns slowly. In typical LSAT writing prompt fashion, he outlines a few facets of the issue for the adoring media mob sweltering in the sun. Obama looks very uncomfortable in the foreign setting and you can attribute it to the sun streaming into his eyes. There is no looking into the far-off distance, a pose favored by the sycophant Obama press. This is not Chicago and he is not with Brian Williams and Katie Couric. A reporter prompts him on the “timetable” and whether things have improved in Iraq. Yes and no, but the timetable still stands in spite of the military accomplishments. Barry sees himself as a visionary leader:

“My job is to set a vision, a strategic vision. I strongly believe it is American’s strategic interest to initiate phased withdrawal. It is consistent with what the Iraqis have been saying,” he says.

Yeah, but you wouldn’t have been able to go to Iraq if not for the deep sacrifices of the valorous troops. And there would be no President Maliki. Barry does concede one thing:

“There is a reduction of violence...”

But then he goes on trying to snatch failure from the jaws of victory, all so that he can fulfill his bounding personal ambitions. For the benefit of his American base of support, he again mentions the “16-month timetable”, the persistent slogan of the campaign, along with “change you can believe in”. How about a “timetable you can believe in?” Because lawyer Obama once again wobbles in response to a question pertaining to the potential for bloodbath at a premature withdrawal?

“I’ve said in the past…and this not new (Really?)… if there is resurgence of ethnic violence, I’d reserve the right to intervene…hopefully with the help of the international community.”

Yeah, well the time for getting the “international community” on board was when you failed to convene a single meeting of the European Foreign Relations committee you were appointed to handle. Since Barry is so fond of timetables, I’d like to suggest a few other timetables he might consider:

• Timetable for affordable heating oil.

• Timetable for alternative-fuel vehicles.

• Timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan.

• Timetable for housing market recovery.

• Timetable for resolution of Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

• Timetable for Iran to drop nuclear plans.

Timetable to get real and cut the B.S. Did Obama really tell us that “there has been bloodshed” there and “a U.S. president cannot…uh…snap his fingers…and uh…fix the problem (Arab-Israeli)…? Wow, we are being schooled! And was it just another LSAT test “problem”?

Compared to his appearances several weeks ago at AIPAC, Obama’s remarks seemed unusually sympathetic to the Arab street. His remarks and tone were critical of the Israeli position, not surprising for a candidate who absorbs the views of his environment.

There was the usual language of the left with regard to the “Palestinians” :

“If the Palestinian people feel oppressed, they get frustrated and…”

It’s hard to believe he said “oppressed” and that he believes Israeli oppression is the chief reason for the conflict, causing “frustration” which leads to violence. Shades of Rev. Wright. The oppressed “chickens came home to roost” in the atrocities of 9-11. This is a fundamental belief in the Obama universe.

Mixed in with the avalanche of Barry’s clichés was the usual barrage of Obama’s verbal gaffes. Obama is helpless without a prepared script, and his inexperience and tendency to get flustered is evident when he has to work off the cuff. Everyone was too polite to correct him when he said:

“Israel is a strong friend of Israel”…

I will correct him. America is a strong friend of Israel (for sixteen months). And of Iraq (for sixteen months). And of any democracy in the Middle East (for sixteen months).

Smith & Wesson: Thanks for the Memories

Introducing the Smith & Wesson commemorative Heller v. D.C. revolver! That’s right, the Springfield, Mass.-based gun maker announced Monday it would present engraved Model 442 revolvers (pictured) to the six plaintiffs in the lawsuit that led to the high court’s June 26 decision. Here’s the Associated Press story as well as a press release from Smith & Wesson:

Smith & Wesson said the gun’s right-side plate will be engraved with the words “D.C. vs. Heller” on a scale of justice, which is tipped toward Heller. “Second Amendment” and “The right to keep and bear arms” will appear below the scale. The commemorative revolvers will be sold in the fall, with a portion of sales going to the Second Amendment Foundation.

California as No. 1 - WSJ.com

California as No. 1 - WSJ.comIt's good to be Number 1--except when it's tax and regulation time.

Obama Too Nerdy? ABC Poll Says So!

John McCain is still behind Barry Obama in this week's latest polls, but the young enthusiasts who were so gaga about him early on have discovered he's just another poltician. Barry Obama has shifted his positions on gun control, on FISA, and on a variety of other issues as he tries to convince America that he's not just another Democratic left-wing candidate.

While 66% of young voters (under age 30) saide they'd get out to vote for Obama, the number has dwindled today to 46%. Same old, same old. I can see some of those people becoming McCain voters. From my own current experience with a youth population, the young can often be surprisingly welcoming to older people they respect.

California: Nancy Pelosi's Elitist Utopia

California seems a whole lot more glamorous and attractive to those who don’t live there and to a lucky few who do live there under favorable circumstances of wealth and prestige. Think of Nancy Pelosi, for lack of a better model of a happy Californian. You would think Arnold Schwarzenegger would be happy, too, except that he’s governor of a state which is tied with Mississippi for 3rd place in the amount of unemployment. In some parts of the state, unemployment is as high as 7%, but the overall state average is somewhere in the range of 6.7%. Financial, services, and manufacturing sectors have been hard hit. Now the California State Automobile Association is moving out at a cost of 900 more jobs. The reason given by their spokeswoman is that it costs too much to do business there than it does in other states. The California operation will be run out of call centers in Arizona and Oklahoma.

California has a 101 billion state budget but 1/7th of that is debt and deficit. No problem to state Democrats, though; they’ve proposed an $8 billion tax increase to fix the problem. Schwarzenegger is frustrated in his attempt to rein in spending. It’s a trend that may move California up higher in the unemployment sweepstakes. As businesses continue to flee, and as unemployment continues and grows higher, California liberals want to keep spending with more funding from the taxpayer.

But hey, its works for Pelosi so why wouldn’t it work for California? People without jobs or money will be forced to conserve. Just think of the environmental benefits. Couple that with Pelosi’s support of a continued ban on off-shore drilling, and you have the conditions of a perfect Utopia. The rich spend and play and enjoy the weather. The poor will take the free shuttle to the gardening jobs provided by the free-spending elite.

Oil Minister Nancy Pelosi Touts Sacrifice to Prevail Against High Energy Prices

Oil Minister Nancy Pelosi, shown here exhibiting the sophistication and style which characterizes the Democratic leadership, voices her strong opposition to off-shore drilling as a way to curb home heating fuel and petrol prices.

“It rarely gets below fifty degrees in San Francisco, where I live,” chuckles Pelosi.

It is a point well taken by Pelosi’s ardent supporters. Presumptive presidential nominee Barak (sic) Obama echoes the slogan in his campaign speeches in the elegant phrase du jour.

“We can’t drill our way out of high petrol prices,” he intones passionately.

Asked to clarify details of his energy policy, Obama enthused about the merits of imported Brazilian switchgrass, windmills, and smartcars that would convert Chicago smog to usable fuels. He pointed to his admiration of former VP Al Gore, a man who, according to Obama, would lead the way to America’s energy future. Zooming off in one of his fleet Escalades, Obama waved grandly and looked toward the skyline in the visionary-style pose most favored by his press attaches at NBC, CBS, and ABC.

The ugly stain on the road and the nasty smell of burnt fuel would soon be a thing of the past with an Obama presidency. It is a point of pride with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that California has led the way for an America where many bitter people must deal with astronomical home heating bills, and are consequently were doomed to live cold lives clinging to guns and religion.

California, though, is a state with the toughest environmental rules in the nation. The regulatory environment might have been dreamed up by George Orwell, yet Pelosi smiles, loosens her chador and tosses her hair like a teenaged girl anxious to catch the cameras.

“It’s not for nothing that California is called the Golden State,” Pelosi trills.

No, indeed. And it’s not for nothing either that California is tied with Mississippi for third place in having the highest percentage of unemployment, its highest in five years. The unemployment picture was even worse in the Los Angeles area, jumping from 6.7% in May to 7% in June as America’s petrol prices increased and hampered American business. But Nancy Pelosi is not one to worry about trifles. She leaves that to George Bush whom she described yesterday as a failure. Undaunted by the 1.26 million unemployed Californians in the construction, financial, and manufacturing sectors, Pelosi steams ahead with her anti- offshore drilling policy and reiterates her support for….yes, that’s right…windmills, Brazilian switchgrass, and smartcars that convert smog to usable fuel.

Obama Says U.S. Needs to Space Out on Foreign Policy

Howard Dean cheering for defeat in Iraq.

I’m always amused when I hear such high praise of Barack Obama’s oratory skills. Obama is articulate, certainly, but his oratorical skills are merely competent. Against a backdrop of President Bush, who thinks well but sometimes speaks in a chopped or clipped manner, Obama’s oratory causes the 90 percent of media hearts which are Democrat to palpitate.

At a recent blah-blah campaign speech from Washington, Obama said the U.S. had pursued a “single-minded” policy approach. He said that the U.S. was paying the price for a foreign policy that “lectures without listening.”

In the next breath, the Great Orator said: “By any measure, our single-minded and open-ended focus on Iraq is not a sound strategy for keeping America safe.” Obama goes on and on in the stentorian tone of voice which he uses to disguise the poverty of his vagaries, but let’s look for the content in the “single-minded and open-ended focus on Iraq”, as he puts it. Let me put it this way. Having a “single-minded focus” is a bad thing, according to Obama. Having an “open-ended” policy is also bad, even though the open ended policy may be flexible, may adjust to conditions on the ground, and may be looking out for trouble on both ends.

It just goes to show you what BS Obama can get away with in the liberal media. He disdains the “single-minded”. Okay, so does that mean he advocates a broad approach which encompasses a wide array of foreign policy concepts. He never says. We’d certainly like to know what kind of broad approach he’d take but that is a campaign secret. Most likely, he means getting back to serving subpoenas to the bombers who tried to take down the World Trade Center with bombs in 1993. Goombaye. As Hillary Clinton said, all Obama’s got is a speech before an anti-war group to sum up his foreign policy experience.

In the next breath (and the same sentence), he disavows the “open-ended focus”. That’s downright stupid. In the same sentence, Obama contradicts himself by criticizing single-mindedness and also a broad approach taken within the context of an “open-ended focus” on Iraq. That’s very lawyerly. It’s also very illogical, deceptive, and vague. It’s not great oratory and can only pass for such in an era in which the liberal media has talked down and dumbed down and homogenized the news to the degree that insults the intelligence of literate people. If your vocabulary extends beyond “duh”, and your only response to foreign policy is to say “no” to all of it, and believe that by doing so you are participating in a great cause, you will think Obama is a great orator.

So what is this spaced-out approach that Obama recommends. He plays up Afghanistan as if he is a militarist straight from the hard-line ranks of the Harvard Law Review. It’s media posturing of the worst sort and has more Obama-interest in it than national interest. Against Senator McCain, Obama’s puffery looks anemic and fake. Obama is a candidate on training wheels, someone who depends on a script, and who will be guided by an invisible cabal of pacifist Democrats who mistake sentiment for character.

John McCain is right on the money when he says:

“Sen. Obama will tell you we can’t win in Afghanistan without losing in Iraq. In fact, he has it (precisely) backwards.”

Summer's Greatest Horror Movie: Samir Kuntar and the Smashing Four Year Old

Samir Kuntar is cheered as a hero by the Hezbollah-Nazis under the leadership of chief religio-fascist nutcase Hassan Nasrallah. Yesterday, Ehud Olmert of Israel arranged a trade of 5 Israeli prisoners for two dead Israeli soldiers. Among the 5 prisoners released was Samir Kuntar who led the nighttime assault on an civilian apartment house in Israel some years ago. Kuntar and his fellow sadists forced their way into an Israeli home, shooting the father in the back, and dashing the brains of a four year old girl with a rifle butt. The girl didn't die immediately and Kuntar continued his deranged attack on the four year old by continually bashing her head against the rocks. Her mother barely escaped, hiding with another child as the exhilarated Hizbollah "heros" lurched about looking to satisfy their blood-lust by killing them too. The mother, frantic to keep silent in hiding, accidentally suffocated her other child when she tried to quiet the terrified child's cries as she gazed at the brutal murders.

Is there a hero anywhere as worthy of Hizbollah's admiration as the subterranean swamp slime Samir Kuntar?

PA Rep Paul Kanjorski Agrees with Me......Sort of....

A few days ago, I wrote about my email contact with PA Representative Paul Kanjorski with regard to the issue of home heating oil, gasoline, and offshore drilling. I think it's absolutely crazy that Pelosi and the cabal of Democratic elitists block a congressional vote on the issue. I called her office, as many did, to register my protest of her stonewalling tactice. Then I emailed Rep. Kanjorski. I promised to publish the results on this blog. Well, just now I received a return email from Rep. Kanjorski and here is a copy of what Mr. Kanjorski has to say:

As I traveled through Northeastern Pennsylvania this week, everyone complained about the high cost of gasoline. Several local oil dealers warned about a potentially even bigger problem: the high cost of home heating oil. Prices are expected to double this winter, so that the average homeowner who uses 950 gallons of home heating oil could pay over $4,500 to stay warm this winter.

I was deeply impressed that these three local business owners are so concerned about their customers that they took the time to provide me with a carefully prepared memo outlining the problem. I agreed with all seven of their recommended solutions, which focused on increasing domestic production of fossil fuels while also developing alternative sources of energy. They also urged Congress to work to close the “Enron loophole,” an obscure provision then-Senator Gramm inserted into legislation to keep energy trading unregulated.

They happened to be Republicans, and I happen to be a Democrat, but by sitting down with one another we found ourselves in agreement. Congress needs to learn how to do the same thing. That is why I called on the bipartisan leadership of the House and Senate to have a summit before the August recess and try to end the partisan gridlock that is preventing any solutions from being enacted. The stakes are just too high to continue the political warfare.

Please feel free to contact my office at (800) 222-2346 with your ideas and suggestions, or you can visit my website at http://kanjorski.house.gov.

We need to drive oil prices back down to earth and we need to do it now. Call or write to Rep. Kanjorski or to Speaker Pelosi's office at 1-202-225-0100. Tell them we need offshore drilling, nuclear power plants, and an end to reliance on countries who do not have our best interests in mind.

New Yorker Magazine Offends Obama Camp with Political Cartoon

The U.S. Ministry of Political Correctness has been alerted to a New Yorker Magazine cover cartoon featuring Michelle with a rifle slung across her back and fist-bumping with husband Barack dressed in Islamic-style robes. Right wing conspiracy? Karl Rove’s behind the scenes manipulation of the liberal media? Somehow it will all end up that way, but first we must recognize that New Yorker is a liberal publication with an audience of upscale Upper Eastsiders-Westsiders and a coterie of poor, wannabe intellectuals like myself. Yeah, I read the New Yorker sometimes at the Public Library because I can’t afford the sticker price. It’s clever in an insider sort of way, especially about things of concern to New York City. When I say “things of concern to New York City” in this context, I mean to exclude the other four boroughs. New Yorker covers them, of course, but not the way it covers itself in the mantle of political correctness. It covers Harlem, Brooklyn, and Queens, and Staten Island with a patronymic attitude which imitates philanthropy but bequeaths no money to the cause. You’ve got to hate the magazine while you rarely miss reading it (unless you live in Idaho). The magazine also tells you about all the great entertainment events in NYC that commoners mostly can’t afford to attend.

Anyway, the poor cartoonist is now put in the embarrassing position of explaining how the piece is meant to satirize the “bitter people clinging to guns and religions” in Pennsylvania and the Private Idahos of the world. Keep in mind that the explanation and apologies are not meant for New Yorkers who are typically very sophisticated about such things. As a barometer of how simple it is, consider that I would have got it myself, even without the nationwide prompting.

There is screaming from the Obama campaign and here’s what Campaign spokesman Bill Burton an Obama campaign guy had to say:
“The New Yorker may think, as one of their staff explained to us, that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Senator Obama’s right-wing critics have tried to create. But most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And we agree.”
The quote was lifted from the Fox News website—I trust this is a “fair use” of the line. But how does Burton know the “most readers will see it as tasteless?” It’s likely that most readers will see it for what it is and yawn. Whether it’s offensive or not is secondary to the 1st Amendment rights and we’re treading on soft ground here.
What I’d really like to talk about is the degree to which European political viruses have infected America. You may remember the murder of Dutch film director Van Gogh at the hands of an Islamic extremist angered at the filmmaker’s depiction of Islam. Just recently, a Dutch cartoonist was jailed overnight for cartoons mocking a variety of sacred cows. Then there were the newspaper riots in Denmark for the same reason. All of this occurs in an environment in which you can presume to make art out of crucifixes in the pissoir and call Italians “garlic noses” from the pulpit and so forth.
In any case, I’m really glad we are imitating the Europeans as Barack Obama says we should be. Our Ministry of Political Correctness is only in its infancy but will soon show the maturity which is exemplified in the Dutch model. I am glad, too, that I am taking Spanish lessons (really, I am) so that we can issue decrees of political correctness in a language understood by all except the Lithuanians, the Thais, the Russians, the Chinese, the Turks, the Armenians, the… well, you get the drift, don’t you?

Keep Your Hands Off the Kids

COP'S WIFE CHARGED IN MURDER OF 'KID GROPER' - New York PostThe "allegation" was that the dead guy sexually molested the woman's 13 year old daughter. If that "allegation" has substance (is true, in other words), then it's hard for me to have any sympathy for the victim.

Yeah, I know it was the wrong response; the mother should have let the police handle it. But these "short-eyes", the guys who go after little girls, ought now to understand that some people are highly averse to such behavior. The mother of the 13 year old female child may may have been at the end of her tether, and had a short fuses besides. And perhaps the penalty didn't fit the crime.

Still, the investigation should continue and, if the allegation is proved true, the court should temper justice with mercy and understanding for a parent who went very far to protect a person she had for so long tried to nurture. For such is the justice of a parent's heart.

Fox News Captures Jesse Jackson's Hurtful Message to Barack Obama

The airwaves and the internet are abuzz right now about the remarks Jesse Jackson made about Barack Obama. Obama's campaign continues to set new precedents as this is the first time in campaign history where a major public figure has apologized to the world before the world heard the remark.

That will come later, though, as the videotaped version of Jackson's comments will be aired tonight exclusively on Fox News before being picked up by everyone else.

From all accounts thus far, Jackson criticized Obama for abandoning urban youth and themes and talking down to the members of traditional African-American churches. Jackson's comments regarding Obama's elitism extended to at least one hurtful comment which preys significantly on male fears and rivalry.

Jesse apologized for being angry with Obama to the point where he wanted to "cut his - - - - - s off..." or something to that effect. The remark, painful as it was, will probably be excused by Obama who will say something indicating the 'remark comes out of Jackson's mouth because he was the victim of earlier times.' Obama dismissed Wright's racial tirades in much the same way, blaming Wright's fulminations against America and against "garlic noses" (sic) (Italians) as coming from a bygone period of American history.

Open Letter to Rep. Paul Kanjorski of Pennsylvania

The one thing few people are talking about is the catastrophic rise in home heating fuel prices. That's right--catastrophic!

It seems that wealthy former Goldman-Sachs governer of New Jersey opposes off-shore drilling on the continental shelf 75 miles away from the shore. Corzine can afford almost any prices for energy but the rest of us in the Northeast cannot. Around the time of the national elections, the frigid Northeast will be facing a catastrophe and citizens will be praying for global warming. Democrats' response is that they're "protecting the environment" but citizens will not be able to enjoy the vagaries of "the environment" if they freeze to death.

Republicans want to protect the environment, too. I registered Republican a few months ago. That doesn't stop me from re-cycling or buying CFL light bulbs and using less energy. But a heating bill which will easily go from $2000 per year to $5,000 or more is devastating to the middle class householders who heat with oil and natural gas. Democrats do not own the oil and gas deposits off the continental shelf, a point made by Rep. John Petersen. It belongs to the people. And 74% of the people want to drill offshore in order to reduce energy prices. It is a lie to say that off-shore drilling will have no effect on price. I urge everyone to write to your congressional reps to support off-shore drilling. Here is a copy of a letter I just sent to Representative Paul Kanjorski of Pennsylvania:

I was just listening to Representative John Petersen of Pennsylvania on CNBC and he is properly worried about home heating oil and gas price increases which will be devastating for the Northeast. Drilling won’t solve all the problems but Petersen feels, as I do, that drilling will help crash the “bubble” which Democrats says is a primary cause of high prices.

I would urge you to support off-shore drilling legislation in the Congress. Aside from the LHEAP program, there is nothing for the rest of us who make ordinary wages and will see our heating bills jump from $2000 per year to $5,000 per year. That is horrendous and I wonder why you are not talking about that.

Please let me know you support offshore drilling in the short-term as we develop alternative energy in the long term.

I will post Representative Kanjorski's response when I receive it in about three weeks. If ever....

Open Letter to Washington D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty

Dear Mayor Adrian M. Fenty,

Thank you for protecting Washingtonians with the strictest gun laws for so many years. We are especially proud that Washington’s crime rate has diminished from its all-time high in 1991 of 482 murders. That was really too much for our rather small population of 600,000 people. Compared to 1985, the murder rate in Washington, D.C. is 4.4 murders less per 100,000 people, a considerable savings in terms of funeral expenses. But we are making progress. The murder rate in Washington D.C. has shown a not-so-surprising resurgence in 2008.

We especially appreciate the police work that you have done after people were killed by violent criminals with guns or knives. You may have even saved the life of Mack Sennitt, who was murdered on the affluent streets of Georgetown in 2006, had you arrested the criminals a few days earlier. While those criminals had a handgun, and Mack Sennitt didn’t, it must be satisfying to know that Mack’s throat was slashed and he died from that stabbing rather than from bullet wounds. That will improve the handgun vs. crime statistics and make your case stronger for the “strictest gun laws possible.”

So keep dragging your feet and obstructing the Supreme Court ruling regarding the individual right to bear arms. America’s violent gun-toting criminals must not risk being shot at while committing the murders which have diminished the city’s population. Remember always that you are the Mayor of a narrow group of affluent elitists who know best how to get the police to come before their lives are taken, rather than after, as is the case for most of us.

Peace out,

Thugs Incorporated.

Barack Obama's Post-Modern Doublespeak on Iraq

Obama Might ‘Refine’ Iraq Timeline - The Caucus - Politics - New York Times BlogOkay, now it's official. Every last one of Barack Obama's positions has been altered. Obama announced recently he'll talk to the Generals to get a feel for "facts on the ground", worrying about a too hasty withdrawal. It's a sensible withdrawal policy Obama said he now wants. It's an embarrassment noticed even by the Gray Lady. Not to worry, Obama's post-modern double-speak writers have already crafted a speech which Obama is right now delivering to all who have caught the Rapture.

He's quickly moving back to the "withdrawal in 16 months" message. Two brigades each month, says the Obama Man, and at the end of sixteen months.... Which of Obama's different positions don't you understand?

Obama blanched when a reporter asked him what he'd do if, after the withdrawal of a few brigades, the country exploded. General Obama pointed to the military gains and the relative quiet that seems to have descended on Iraq, and pointed the way to Afghanistan.

There's where he would move the troops. But what about the troop committments and other support he could have obtained from the Europeans if he had just once, in the year and a half he'd been appointed to the Senate Subcommittee for Foreign Relations Europe, convened a single meeting?

It's really crazy to take the guy seriously in national politics.
