Barak Obama's Red Alert Moment

Why is the Obama camp so miffed about Hillary’s 3:00 Phone Call in the White House ad? Calling it “scare tactics” is hardly the point. History shows that new presidents are very often tested in the first months of their office.

The Obama people blithely dismiss 3:00 a.m. phone calls as “something that doesn’t really happen”? Did Obama ever hear of the Cuban missile crisis? World Trade Center? Pentagon? Terror bombings in Kenya and Tanzania? Weren’t they days of 3:00 a.m. phone calls? Or were they “scare tactics, as Obama says?” Oh, but these are different times! Correct that—“new” and different times. Times that demand “change” you can Xerox.

There’s a great deal of hypocrisy in the Obama ranks. Obama and his campaigners want Americans to take a historic view of U.S. foreign policy but only at specific time intervals. The Obama-niks ought to be forthright about it, at least. Maybe scheduling would help. Obama’s campaign staff might wish to schedule the “historical viewpoint” hour for every third Thursday at, say…8:00 p.m. during prime tv time. The rest of the schedule could then be devoted to diverse Obama perspectives like Myopia Hour, or Fantasy Funnies. How does NAFTA Nap Time sound to you?

Obama has his own version of the 3:00 A.M. presidential hot line phone call. In his advert, Obama chides Hillary that America already had its red-phone alert when it came time to vote on Iraq. I guess he forgot the red-alert phone call when he was appointed chairman of a Senate Subcommittee on foreign relations with Europe.
“Hello, Obama….Obama, are you there? Please pick up the phone, Obama. Hello?....”

Obama was picked to put some heads together so our NATO allies in France and Germany would help us in Afghanistan, just like the brave British and Canadian forces. I guess the “voice of wisdom” was too busy vamping his campaign to answer that call. Afghanistan is something Obama said he believes in. That’s where he could have helped. That’s where he was AWOL. And that’s just one area where Obama’s not the real deal.
