A Dissenting View of the Great South Carolina Gingrich Landslide - Yahoo! News

COMMENTARY | After Newt Gingrich's convincing win in South Carolina, the meme du jour is "debates do matter." Flip on any television news show and you're destined to hear this all-purpose story line about the GOP primary in South Carolina.

Gingrich is an able orator but not everyone is convinced that grand oratory did the trick for Gingrich in South Carolina. The Ticket underscored the demographic rift in Republican politics that Democrats are striving to broaden.

Gingrich won 45 percent of South Carolina primary voters who "identified themselves very conservative," with Mitt Romney at 20 percent. Among those identifying themselves as evangelical, Romney only got half the votes Gingrich did.

Keystone XL Pipeline Decision Is Bombshell Political Issue - Yahoo! News

The Keystone XL Pipeline could turn out to be the exploding dye-pack of the Obama administration's energy policy. In order for the most recent debt extension to pass Congress, the president agreed to a February 21 deadline for deciding whether to approve or halt the plan. The proposed Keystone XL Pipeline is a conduit for shipping Canadian oil to refineries in Texas. Gingrich Firms Sell Legislative Information and Connections - Yahoo! News

Wall Street Journal writer Brody Mullins today injected new fuel into the debate over venture capitalism, examining Newt Gingrich's activities in consultation with financial firms like Credit Suisse.

Gingrich's panoply of companies are not venture capitalist firms but instead capitalize on the revolving door between government and private interests.

Whether termed "revolving door" or "crony capitalism," the facts of Gingrich's consulting groups undermine his claim of being an anti-establishment iconoclast.

Gingrich, Perry Backslide with Anti-Capitalist Attacks in New Hampshire - Yahoo! News

Gingrich, Perry Backslide with Anti-Capitalist Attacks in New Hampshire - Yahoo! News

COMMENTARY | The real shocker about the New Hampshire GOP primary race was when Newt Gingrich, followed by Texas Gov. Rick Perry, fell into the rabbit hole of class warfare.

Class resentment has been a mainstay of Democrat politics for decades, and Republicans have always been quick to tell them so. What's different now is that Republicans Gingrich and Perry are telling them they're right.

Days before the New Hampshire primary, Perry joined Gingrich in condemning Romney's involvement with Bain Capital, a venture capitalist firm with more successes than failures.

Gingrich's intellectual prestidigitation only tricked himself, and damaged his reputation among GOP conservatives. Populist Perry should have resisted the temptation but didn't and followed Gingrich down the yellow brick road.

Please, No More Housing 'Help' from the Fed - Yahoo! News

Please, No More Housing 'Help' from the FCOMMENTARY | Defenders of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and his member bankers claim the Fed's most fervent desire is to help homeowners. Business Insider described Bernanke's latest suggestion as a "call to action."

But we're desperate, begging. Please, please, no more help.

We will soon be trying to sell our house, but every move by the Federal Reserve and the Obama administration seems designed to hurt us financially.

Government housing initiatives have put more inventory on the market or left buyers uncertain about where house prices actually are. Resident home sellers are at the mercy of nervous appraising banks who depend on the kindness of government regulators.

As with other homeowners, we've had to accept the plunge in housing prices that began five years ago. You'd think by now we'd have hit the bottom.
