My beloved grandfather died when I was fourteen, and the youngest of several cousins who regularly visited the cramped family home in Pennsylvania.
Pietro lived next door to my parents and frequently wore a dark vest with a gold pocket watch and chain. Attached to the gold watch chain was a $10.00 gold 'Eagle' coin. He had a vintage shotgun that he'd acquired about a hundred years ago, and when I was a little boy, I'd trundle behind him when he went hunting rabbits.

When I returned, the "freeze frame" showed a snarling Velshi beside the gay man who could have passed for a Marine, a corporate CEO, a teacher, a nurse, or anything else in the range of American careers.
It soon became apparent that Barron was there not to explain a point of view, but to be a victim of the host's single-minded purpose.
"A conservative group that also supports gay rights wants to meet with presidential candidate Michele Bachmann," Velshi began.
