Pennsylvania Celebrates 330rd Birthday - Yahoo! News

Pennsylvania Celebrates 330rd Birthday - Yahoo! News: "The Walking Purchase dispute stemmed from the land deed that William Penn had arranged with the Indians in 1683. Considering that the land was wilderness, seemingly without beginning or end, the terms of that deed were loosely drawn and vague.
* The Indian chiefs who made the original deal with Penn had specified only that they were selling an amount of land marked by a 'walk of a day and a half' from a point near present Wrightstown, Pa. Due to that vagary, the actual size of the plot had been in dispute for many years."
